When you shop in a grocery, supermarket and purchase closed packages, you check the hashgocha and decide if that's your standard, When you go to a takeout, Pizza, Ice cream, Yogurt bar, etc you don't know what you are getting. It's common by a take out to at least ask who's meat & poultry do you use, even just sometimes?
It's incumbent on every kosher consumer to check up and ask questions on the source of the ingredients being used in Ice cream, Yogurt, topping, flavors, etc.
You might be surprised. A kosher certifier may allow items which you wouldn't use at home, even if it's cholov yisroel (who's?).

Yudel as usual is posting his typical narishkeiten.
What's the difference between relying on the kosher symbol on the closed package and relying on the kosher symbol hanging in the store window?
No difference.
On a closed package, you don't either know what your getting. But you rely on the kosher symbol. So if the takeout, Pizza, Ice cream, Yogurt bar is under the same kashrus organization or similiar, why should it be any different?
Oh so now its hershel in yudels crosshairs? please dont post
When you go to a restaurant or caterer (if you are concerned at all about kasrus) you ask at least the basics, who's meat, poultry, yoshon, mashgiach, etc
In a takeout, yogurt, ice cream bar, etc you should do the same. You might not be the first one to be surprised.
In a pizza store don't you ask, who's cheeses are you using?
If you don't ask you can't claim it was an "oi'nus".
Yudel-always with "the rest of the story". He simply forgot to say it's fiction!
It is repugnant to impugn someone's reputation without basis. It is doubly disgusting to do so by innuendo. "Cursed be the man who strikes his fellow by stealth" (Devorim 28:24).
It is triply horrific when such guerrilla warfare is conducted in the name of the Torah.
It is to be expected from someone who was an agent for the first frum Madoff-type schemer who stripped many kollel yungeleit of their nadanim. Those naive people were taken in by yeshivahshe looks and an illustrious family name, and they failed to ask the same type of pointed questions suggested here. Such as: what are the sources of funds; where exactly is the money invested; can we see some financial statements? Instead they relied on, "Everybody eats (i.e. invests) there".
I guess you might say it was a fair trade. The agent got their money and they got the experience.
In response to the post I can only say this: Kshoit atsmach v'achar kakh kshoit acheirim. (Make yourself honest first; only afterwords may you preach for honesty in others.)
He's not talking about hershel, he's talking about a store in Brick
I support bashing Herskowitz's politics. I do not support ripping him apart for something that has no basis whatsoever.
His store has the Hashgacha of Rabbi Gissinger. If you don't eat from his hashgacha, take it up with him rather than bashing Hershel.
If you don't trust Rabbi Gissinger, that's your right. But to attempt to discredit a business like this with no basis in reality is just disgusting.
Again, I am no supporter of Herskowitz. I despise his politics. But this is just too much.
"In a pizza store don't you ask, who's cheeses are you using?"
No I don't. If I can't rely on the baal machshir that he's using good cheese, then what does it help finding out on my own what cheese they use? There can be 1000 other problems too.
Its either the baal machshir is trustworthy or he isn't. Because if you can't trust his choice of cheese, how can you trust him on anything else that takes place there?
But you see how they will dodge the question, they wouldn't even admit that it's cholov yisroel according to all.
freelakewood.blogspot.co once again posted an expose of yudel
why attack a man whos statement has some merit. everyone has a right to know what the ingredients are. why not just disclose them. if there is nothing to hide then just do it.
What's he hiding?
Gelbstein's bakery in Lakewood is currently kosher certified by the KCL & Rabbi Gissinger. Gelbstein's also has a restaurant connected the bakery called SALAD GARDEN. The salad garden is currently not kosher certified by the KCL. Why not? ask the KCL. You might be surprised!
The KCL says the It does not meet their standards (KCL's political standards?) especially the vegetables being used re checking, etc
His ingredients is none of your business. Does coke give you there's? does sprinkles give you there's? NO, because its covered by the hashgocha. End of story.
"Lakewoods Voice" rejects all comments that provide the truth to the reliabilty of the kashrus standards at the Calif Swirls & other places e.g. Salad Garden & all Kof-K restaurants, caterers.
Is this a standard that you are willing to accept?
