The criminal law statues of New Jersey prohibit home poker games and all other forms of social gambling that are not licensed or approved by the state. According to New Jersey Criminal Law, 2A: 40-1, “All wagers, bets or stakes made to depend upon any race or game, or upon any gaming by lot or chance, or upon any lot, chance, casualty or unknown or contingent event, shall be unlawful”.

What is with you people? Whats wrong with playing poker? Better to steal, cheat , or molest others? Leave his personal life out of it. If u dont like the way he governs say so. Otherwise shut up.

  10. Harold For Mayor! says:

I agree with HH here. Someone who does things against the law, outright and blatant, should not be the one who should represent this town! How could a Mayor of a town do things illegal, and not get punished for it?
It will eventually become more public and other towns will hear, and other states and cities, and all it will cause is the biggest disgrace to G-Ds name! That the jewish communitty of Lakewood has corrupt polititions! That the jews vote for corrupt officials!
is this what you want the rest of the world to think of us? can someone please explain how he gets away with this?

Playing poker in a social setting or in a casino is not illegal. Once again the author of this article is bending the story line to try to make langert look bad. Like the one where he wrote "langert implicated in weinstein ponze scheme". However playing poker from a Torah perspective thats an entirely different matter....

As a torah town, it seems a bit weird to me that the RYs continue to support someone who is an open habitual gambler. Are those the type of frum yidden we want as our representatives?
