A computer maven was concerned about the claims of the Asifa organizers that insist, with the haskoma of our Gedolim, that only their filter is Kosher, and is worth the fees that go along with it. This is what he found.

The software known as Nativ, is one of the filters that the Ichud uses. The Nativ website's questions page makes the following claims.

------------

http://www.usanativ.com/faqs.html

Q: My kids have proven themselves highly proficient at the computer.

How do I know they won't bypass your software?

A: Nativ runs in the background at all times and works together with the operating system on a level way beneath the browser. Therefore, no program or browser can override Nativ.

-------------

There have been very few filters that have boasted this. In fact most will be very cautious to remind users that no software filter is fool proof. And those are free filters.

Nativ claims they have an unremovable filter and they charge money for it.

1. There are other filters that are free and far better than Nativ 2. It is pure geneivah to claim something like this.

In this article I will demonstrate how to remove Nativ.

What's most bothersome is the fact that you may now think- let me put on my techie hat as something complicated and technical is about to enter my brain.  It is actually just a simple computer command needed. In technical terms its known as resetting WINSOCK.

The command is: netsh winsock reset.

After entering those 3 magic words Nativ is gone.

1. Bring up a command prompt:

In xp click Start then click on Run. In the box that comes up type in 'cmd' without the quotes and press enter In Windows 7/vista click the Windows/Start button and type 'command prompt' without the quotes and click on the command prompt. If user account control is on then right click on the command prompt that comes up and select Run As Administrator. But from what I unserstand nativ already did that for you, as it disables it when you first install it.

2 in the command prompt type in the following one command at a time:

'netsh'

Press enter

'winsock'

Press enter

'reset'

Press enter and poof nativ is gone.

I would really hope that it were more complicated than that and they would make me write an article that's longer. But that didn't happen.

That this is the filter being given by the Ichud is a blatant lie. They are giving k9. Go in and check for yourself! Not that it is necessarily much better but at least it's free.

Nativ is not for businesses as they have a very limited list of whie pages. 4 million dollars could have given ALL the white pages for the businesses.

    It just shows these "askonim."

It took me roughly 30 seconds to over ride K9. All you need is putty and a server to ssh to and create a tunnel.

  7. Anonymous says:

Using putty is not a way to bypass as it requires another computer with unfiltered access. In essence what you are saying is, I have a computer that is not filtered and I access that one from my filtered computer.

We just started a company with a clown of PC anywhere & a whole lot of unfiltered servers, for all those locked up in offices & homes with filters who need a few hours freedom a week. We disconnect them after one hour & we only allow 3 hours a week using the same credit card. Seeing the Rabbis realize we can't restrict everyone so much, the takono is each access must cost $20.00. We have a booming business, unbelievable much better than the filters, they still can't do anything illegal because we could trace it.
We are doing so well, that the Ichud tried to tax us 50%, and they would send us those customers the Rabbis feel may need it, but we told them we don't need their refferals.
LOL ROTFL Just kidding, but I bet it would work.

Start a new business. Monthly payment to remove filter required by yeshiva

Unfortunately K9 can be bypassed EASILY in less than 30 seconds... Without using any other computer etc.

it is such an aveira to post this information.

  12. wondering says:

What about the Nativ "program" that completely disables internet on the computer (i.e. not just a filter). Does this method undo that as well ?

  13. Anonymous says:

It's very very easy to remove k9. Just use system restore to restore the computer to before k9 was installed. Simple!

  14. Anonymous says:

K9 and any local filter can be easily by passed, I have a computer company in the UK and we have yet to see a filter installed on a computer that we cannot bypass and disable in multiple ways, for businesses we recommend a security appliance that allows us to manage their filtering on a per person basisonce we set it up it cannot be bypassed however this is not cost effective for homes so the only secure solutions is a filtered isp with no software on the computer
