The following protest letter was printed in the Israeli newspaper Yated Neman. It is signed by many prominent Rabbis in protest to those that have criticized R Shteinman supposedly for his views on military service of Yeshiva students in Israel. Perhaps they were Also upset about those that brought our own local politician, Bob Singer to shake hands with him.
I am writing this letter because I was at a local eatery friday when a certain township Committee member that is part of the Jewish Community walked through the door. He was on his cell phone and speaking loudly. There were a few of us in the shop and we heard him scream into his phone, "I am not going to walk into the meeting with my D--- out while Meir Lichtenstein is sitting on the dais!" We all looked at each other in shock glad that our wives weren't with us. He then gave his analysis on the situation in Syria.
As a committee member that is representing our Community, I hope he reads this and will be more careful with his use of obscene language in public.

Langert is upset that Lichtenstein is stealing his thunder. He was the first guy to try to improve the downtown. Now Lichtenstein is making a big meeting about it. It is A election year Steve. When a police office was murdered in cold blood, the entire town came to their last respects. The entire BMG stopped in middle of seder. I and countless others left our jobs to be there at the funeral.
