The children of Orchos Chaim are very holy. The parents don't have Internet and are living up to the highest standards of tzniyus that their daas Torah recommend. Why should they go?
I hate to say this. I am an Orchos Chaim parent and although I can't believe a letter like this went out I will not be attending. If that is the official school policy, I don't want to confuse my kids. I want my kids to think we live in a choshuva world where what the school says matters.
This letter could have just stated very simply that while some gedolim are for it, our daas Torah is not. No need to mention stadiums and that we only have Torah--as if the other gedolim never thought of that. There is a smugness and self righteous tone to this letter.
I didn't think R.Shmuel Kaminetsky had it in him.

Finally someone with common sense. This asifa is causing so much bitul Torah and sinas chinam. Just like trying to get into one of your exclusive schools.

For everything else we have bitachon that hashem will protect us. All of a sudden technology is a problem that we can't overcome. We need to deal with it in a smart way. Not give in to threat tactics from some money making filter provider and supposed gedolim that just want to see free speech squashed. This is not about saving ourselves. We need to learn how to deal with our yetzer horaah in every generation in a different way. For us it may now be the yetzer horaah of Internet. FOR THE ORGANIZERS OF THIS EVENT IT IS THE GAIVA OF THESE RABBIS TO PRETEND THEY ARE ABOVE BEING CRITICIZED. THE BLOGS WILL CONTINUE TO EDUCATE THE MASSES.
I am the author of the comment at 10:19. It was edited by the site owner to remove the name of one of the organizers (fair enough) but now leaves the impression that R.Shmuel has pretend Daas Torah. That was not how it was originally written, chas veshalom.

Whoever doesn't go to asifa Malkiel Kotler will tell you not to accept their kids. Will you listen? He will go down in history as the gadol hador that kept Jewish kids out of school. What a great memory that will be of him.

A Man who HAS a rosh yeshiva and listens to him.
Yankie Mandelbaum is the person that convinces R' Malkiel and the Va'ad to support his candidates on the BOE, so that they can give him more money under the table through Catapult. This past election, the oilam in Lakewood finally woke up and voted against his candidates.
Yanky Mandelbaum is also the person who threatened Isaac Ackerman that he will throw his kids out of school unless he votes to give more money to Orchos Chaim.
All the elder Rosh Ha'yeshivas are against the Asifa for numerous reasons. For the oilum ha'yashiva however - it is an unprecedented Bittul Torah.
Rav Shmuel, (Yanky's Rosh Yeshiva) who is possibly the wisest all, with foresight, has stated that the Asifa will bring unwanted attention to the frum yidden - a prediction that has already been proven true. The media, and the counter-protests, are already publicly exposing the skeletons of the frum corner.
Truth is, had R' Solomon originally gone to R' Chaim with a dissenting opinion, i.e. R' Shmuel or the like, he would not have gotten R' Chaim's haskama. The Gedolei Eretz Yisroel have tremendous respect for Rav Shmuel, who is a Emes Talmid Chacham and a Gadol Batorah. Based upon R' Solomon's presentation, without any other opinion, Rav Chaim relented.
After Rav Chaim gave the green light however, the snowball just started to grow with the intimidation policy. "40k people will be there - are you going against that?!" You know how it works.

in the election he sent letters out saying listen to the rosh hayeshiva, stay united,dass tora bla bla and vote 4-5-6 now he doesnt listen to rosh yeshiva on something that can only be good or at least wont hurt
At the BOE campaign there was established that Balei Batim are todays actual Gadol Hadohr & daas Torah, Ask Mandelbaum, George weinberger, Ely Kleinman, etc.
The Citifield asifa was going to have the mashgiach anoint the gadol hadohr (Lakewood R"Y") Now it'll be the Erev Rosh Chodesh Tefilas Hasehlah.
Even though the rabbeim in Orchos Chaim really want to talk about the asifah, and they are all joining the asifah, they won't be able to talk about it because their boss doesn't let, and they all want to keep their jobs.

There has been a lot going on about this event behind the scenes , i am not going to take sides here , ( although i have a lot to say ) , mainly because i don't think anyone needs another opinion on the matter .
I will however give those that are confused insight and my opinion to what is really going on and what happened ONLY in regard to this letter.
Mr. Mandelbaums opinion has nothing to do with a higher level of daas torah, but rather its about who's team he is on. As we all know ( from the recent BOE elections that Mr Mandelbaum is a "very close friend and partner in crime " with benny heiniman. for all those who forgot ( or didnt know ) benny heiniman had a brutal fight with nechemia gottlieb ( had something to do with fights and closing of their school - bais hatorah).
For those that know Nechamia Gottlieb is behind this whole asifa and it was he that pushed r'solomon into this whole thing so that he would have a job and get some kovod and power. so its really about giving gottlieb a slap in the face.
now about my opinion of who is worse in this mandelbaum vs gottlieb scenario,
even though i have no love for mandelbaum , in this case im going to side with him because mandelbaum at worse (emotionally and financially) abuses a few hundred maybe a few thousand lakewood parents, while gottlieb is abusing 50000 for his financial gain and his kovod, and gottlieb has a record of abusing kids.
and BTW i will be going to the asifa , i believe it is a very important thing becuase the danger of the internet to at least show the RBS"O that we want a solution . it is such a no brainer , in order that there should be some nisayon not to go the soton put people like gottlieb and co. in charge of this so that the yetzer hora should give us a million excuses not to go. i will therefore be swallowing my pride and holding in my resentment against the people running it every second i am there . and i believe all those who have the same issues as me should do the same , and i believe that in return for the koachos we use to swallow or pride and grudges, hashem should give us the koachos to overcome the nissoyon of the internet , ( a zechus that unfortunatly Mr. mandlebaum will not be zocha in becuase he was not able to overcome his personal grudges)
This Asifa is intended for people like mandelbaum. What is he not getting??

R' Yankie Mandelbaum heads two major respected schools in Lakewood, Orchas Chaim, and Bonos Orchas Chaim.
Many gedolei hador are aginst the asifa, just the people who are for it make more noise. And number 2, they're not going to scream aginst it, but they don't really hold of it.
It's known that R' Shmuel Kaminitzky, R' Meir Stern, R'Chaim Epstein, R' Yosef Rosenbloom, and others are aginst it. They are the true daas Torah of America.
Who will be mechubod to pith the first ball that night at Citi Field? And who will flip the first kosher hot dogs that night? Can I set up a lemonade stand to benifit bmg?
How did Solomon let himself be draged in to this mess, it will ruin him, thats why Malkiel is so nervous about the attendence, that he went so far to pull the holy yungerleit from they're gemaras.

I'm confused. If the pre-eminent gedolim are against the asifa, why don't they come out and say so? I keep on hearing that R' Shmuel is against it, why doesn't he speak up???? Where is the so-called leadership?
If the pressure gets too much expect to see R. Mattisyahu push Gottlieb under the bus. 'It was all his idea', 'He tricked me into it' etc.
It is unclear how against the asifah Rav Meir Stern is but what is clear is (1) that he is against buchrim or yungerleit going and (2) he has refused to reschedule a dinner for the yeshiva ketana of Passaic (this is the largest school in passaic and the majority of the kids in Passaic attend this yeshiva) despite being asked to do so. Note, the majority of people who attend this Passaic dinner are ballai baittim and Rav Meir knows that as a result of having this dinner the same time, it causes that 90% of the frum people in Passaic to not attend the internet asifah.

I am a yungerman in Yeshiva who has no plans on going to this Asifa.
The whole thing doesn't make any sense. There is no purpose other than to make a big crowd to benefit what?
Everyone knows that the Internet is treif. We don't have to be mevatel Torah for that.
The Mashgeach is a chosheve yid, but he does not have the daas torah of the zkan roshei yeshivos who know shas and poskim. Whatever he told r' chaim was without the presence of the other gedolei america who disagree. I therefore am not taking what r' chaim said at full value.
I am listening to r' shmuel and will be learning second seder and night seder in yeshiva.

If R' Shmuel doesn't want to bring unwanted attention to the frum world, he should teach people how to drive, how to have manners when dealing with others. He should come to Lakewood and make an asifah in BMG and explain to the oilam how unsensitive and inconsiderate they look when they drive like wild maniacs.
And when they go to the WIC office to pick up their checks, and they have to go to a class from a lady, they shouldn't stick their noses into a gemara and insult the poor lady giving the class. If they can't look, don't come to WIC.
