When the notorious Ponzi scheme crook Eli Weinstein was indicted, numerous
Lakewood residents were shocked to see Committeeman Steve Langert in close
contact and consultation with Mr. Weinstein. New court filings show that the
relationship was closer than one might have thought. According to sworn
testimony of Mr. Langerts partner, I. P., Mr. Steven Langer
received at least $25,000 from a kick back scheme, which itself was payback for
aiding an consulting the defrauding on Moshe Meisels of $3,500,000. The scheme
was simple. E. Weinstein bought a building in Ohio for $600,000. He then got
a fictitious company to sign a lease @ $400,000 a year. On the strength of
that lease, he got Mr. Meisels to buy half the building from the 'owner' (in
reality Mr. Wienstein, but careful concealed from Mr. Meisels) for
$1,600,000. EFES Holdings, a company owned by SEVEN LANGERT (see page 155
line 24) and Mr. Pollack received $130,000 by the closing. $80,000 was
returned to Mr. Weinstein, and $50,000 was split between Mr. Langert and
Pollack, according to the sworn testimony of Mr. P. (see page 156 lines
1-6). Did Mr. Langert ever wonder why he was getting $25,000?

In addition, the address and numbers of the 'broker' was the office and number of Mr. Langert (see page 158 Line 25 to page 159 line 8). Apparently, Mr. P. was quite confident that Mr. Langert was not going to blow the whistle on the fraud should he have been contacted!

I'm telling you, a lot of these guys in this little town of Lakewood are scrupulous, if one was to do a forensic investigation into their dealings a lot of them would be in jail..

This is all nonesense - where's the proof and what gives you the right to publish such inflammatory statements without any real proof. I'm not buying it. Shame on all of you for jumping to this conclusion. I'd like to know who wrote this article. And why. What's the real motivation? It's appears almost political in nature. You know, bring down Stephen Langert. To make room for someone else? Looks dirty.

I don't understand how this could go on for so long
    When will this stop already
Or do we need to wait until someone gets put in jail

    Is it a fake

If these statements are true about him, he should not be in public office. He has access to millions of taxpayer dollars and he should have the sense to resign as township committeeman until this is resolved. I certainly don't think he should have control of any taxpayer funded projects or money unless he is cleared.

It is the unfortunate lot of good people to be the target of the mentally deranged, criminally jealous, and perpetually disaffected. I guess some toys aren't enough for someone, they need to be destructive in the most underhanded way to get their rocks off. pity.

i wonder if this is the reason as to why our town hasnt had money to hire more police officers since the manpower is dropping and they are not filling these positions. I know this is just one aspect of things that havent been addressed. I just would just like to know why

TLS would never report this, it is something bad about one of their cronies. At least here there is room for both sides without being moderated.
Maybe this is why Steve falls asleep during meeting, he can't sleep at night worrying about this.

The truth hurts. CEO will close you down like TLS.

If its true, then the story should be published. TLS doesn't have cojones to publish any corruption in this town. And to all you apologist's out there, the truth is a good thing.

This lawyer is a total idiot. He is not advancing his client’s interests by writing such a strident letter. If he wrote a letter simply demanding that the article be taken down, he would have had a much better chance of getting something than by demanding that this site write a retraction preapproved by Langert’s lawyer.

The threat of a lawsuit is a lot of bluster. If Langert filed suit, there is a very good chance that he and his legal counsel would be sanctioned for filing a frivolous action. Truth is a defense to a defamation suit. The post accurately characterizes the court documents. If someone accurately characterizes the contents of court documents, they cannot be sued for defamation even if the allegations contained in the court documents turn out to be false. Below is a link to an article about a recent New Jersey Supreme Court case on the matter as well as a link to the actual court ruling.

I am sure that Langert’s lawyer is reading the comments on this site. Having been made aware of the remarkably similar case Salzano V. N.J. Media Group Inc. 201 N.J. 500 (2010), I hope he will not want to risk sanctions under R. 1:4-8 by filing a frivolous suit.

I dont't understand why Langert is not sceard of getting locked away.

We should all come out aginst the poker-man Steave Langert.
