Steven D. Langert has been the mayor of Lakewood, NJ for the past three years and after a victory last night, he's happy and proud he'll be the Mayor for another three years.
No sweat really, despite attack ads from his opponent surrounding poker.
"We had good support town-wide in all areas. It was all very rewarding and gratifying" explained Langert.
Fortunately Steven did not take a bad beat last night. Unfortunately, he just busted after Sam Pham spiked a case 7 on the river.
Steven held Q-J and saw a flop of J-Q-7 for top two pair. He raised half of his short stack causing Sam to isolate with an all-in. The remaining two opponents folded.
Sam tabled A-7 off drawing extremely thin.
6 on the turn.
7 on the river scores trip sevens and the knock-out.
Another player announced he folded A-7 pre-flop giving Pham the one-outter case 7.
Steven lost this showcase showdown but the voters spoke last night.

get over it Harold. You lost your bid for Mayor and now you are just being a sore loser attacking your old political enemy. It comes across very immature. Grow up and move on.
Langert is a corrupt politician "par exalance" never sees more than himself and his big $$ friends in anything he does for this town.. What a hillul Hashem
HH could never take a loss in poker either.
I cannot believe such a corrupt individual can be our Mayor?
Do we not realize that eventually all his corruption will become publicized, and it will just bring disgrace to the Town! Why do we let this happen? How could we let this happen? how come nobody does anything about this? Why don't we care?
It has nothing to with immaturity, its real politics! Why can't we take this guy down once and for all, and maybe we'd get somewhere in this town!
He does absolutely nothing more than just go out for lunch with his cronies, and people who he likes to kiss up with, and with those that want to kiss up to him!
He's a disgrace to our town! Period!
Stop the jealousy
Do you know why sewer lines are going in in certain areas for the past few years? to increase the value of certain individuals properties that have silent partners. I thought so.
hey. hh u say u put your name on anything you write ! so what happened this time?
Do you know the name of the street that Steve is building on?
this is exactly why moshiach is not coming.....
As a torah town, it seems a bit weird to me that the RYs continue to support someone who is an open habitual gambler. Are those the type of frum yidden we want as our representatives?
enough already with the poker
