The intention of this article is to simply clarify a misunderstanding that I have discovered regarding the lawsuit that Steven Langert has filed in Secular court against the owner of this website, and has named me in the suit as well. I adamantly deny any involvement in the articles of Langert being involved in Ponzi scheme dealings with Eli Weinstein. I was denying his allegation that I accused him of being an "addicted gambler" based on an article that listed websites ranking him in poker tournaments as well.
It was pointed out to me that he was basing this accusation on an article that I wrote, and signed, as I do any articles that I write. The article discussed why we can't afford to have Langert as a committee member for another three years. In the article I listed all the ways that Langert has, with the help of Bob Singer, hurt our town. I mentioned "Furthermore his well known penchant for gambling in an extremely addictive manner makes him untrustworthy to manage our finances responsibly." This line is what Langert, and his lawyer consider libellous.
I would like to make it clear, I was not accusing Langert of being an "addicted gambler". I was simply mentioning the concerns that many residents of Lakewood have in regards to having a committeeman that plays high stakes poker so often that he was part of a group that needed to rent office space to organize games undisturbed. I heard about his organized poker games along with everyone else when a senior resident brought up the subject at a Township meeting. He even attended a poker tournament in Atlantic City the night after he won his second term, and laughed at those that criticized him for being a gambler. I never called him an "addicted gambler", I was simply mentioning what was the concern of many.
I would just like Steve Langert to know that I never had any intention to "get revenge" on him or any of his fellow Committeemen. I never looked to uncover "dirt" on him. But I could not remain silent while he and Bob Singer, smugly, and self Righteously, continued to take advantage of the fine people of Lakewood for their own personal and political gain. I cannot apologize for the things that I wrote that are a concern to all the good citizens of Lakewood. I am sorry if he misunderstood my words as accusing him of being "addicted" to anything.
I used to Smoke two packs of cigarettes a day. Was I addicted? I didn't think so. Did others? Maybe.
This thing is getting so ugly its scary. There is a God in this world and when two Jews go at it publicly like this it causes an enormous desecration of God's name.
When this site constantly vilifies the mayor and others violating hilchos Lashon Hara, Richilos, Motzei Shem Ra, chillul Hashem etc. many times over and compounded thousands of times when every person reads it and spreads the news claiming its all good because of free speech or a need to inform or whatever... their sin becomes humongous. Bringing other Jews to secular court when you have the option to first arbitrate in a Beis Din is a very serious crime I am sure you know...

what you all seem to forget is that steve saved the taxpayers millions of dollars over his term in office when others before him did not have the courage to take on those challenges. his personal life choices does not affect his ability to govern well. to those who post that he uses public funds for gambling.... we all know that is absurd. it is quite apparent that hershel and this sites administrators have crossed the line and that is the point steve is trying to make.

Does anyone have further information about a July 4th pool party at Steven Langert's house? I heard through the grapevine that there was underage drinking by boys and girls at the pool and some were smoking marijuana.
I of course was not there but I heard it from a friend who knew someone who was there. Does anyone have further info about it? There was definitely a pool party with girls and boys.

Steve is a bully who likes to get his way. If he can't win, he will resort to any tactic in order to intimidate a person who isn't bowing down to him. Instead of 'Roshei Yeshiva and Mashgiach shlit"a, it now reads 'Gedolei Yisroel and Rabbonei Ha'ir'!!
